House in Kildare

Originally built as a ‘racing lodge’ with minimal accommodation, this house was designed for entertaining while attending a days racing. Gradually it became a full time residence and rooms were added sporadically and without a coherent plan. Our project sought to refurbish the house, while rationalising the plan so that it worked as a modern dwelling with traditional roots.

A new garden pavilion was also added in a sympathetic style. We designed the fitted joinery and worked with the client on every aspect of the finishes. The house is now a family home while keeping and accentuating its character and retaining its charm. Roof, windows and the delicate timber veranda to the front were all carefully restored. The interior plan was opened up to allow rooms to flow and connect. The house is now ‘off to the races’ once again.
